Mark is a skilled director and cinematographer who has always pushed the creative and technical limits. HIs quirky dry sense of humor, a penchant for art direction, a keen sense of composition, exploring the essence of a story, and his passion for the moving image defines his sensibility. He came of age in motion pictures through the era of “coming of age movies” defined by John Hughes and Paul Brickman in Chicago in the 1980’s, and was introduced to the true art of comedy in television commercials working for “Where’s the beef?” himself, Joe Sedelmaier. After slipping in the glitter for over a decade in Hollywood, working with the most revered filmmakers in the history of the cinema, Simon was able to espouse his knowledge as a teacher of the craft of cinematography at Art Center College of Design. After lensing literally thousands of television commercials in his storied career, his love of the media still triumphs.
